The book Global Health Justice and Governance by Jennifer Prah Ruger1 raises keyissues about the current state of global health governance, many of which issuesrepresent a state of significant confusion. In this commentary, I focus on inequalities inglobal health, some of which are perpetuated by the very global institutions that aremandated to help reduce such inequalities. I further argue that such inequalities havebeen largely unexplored. I argue that building global health governance on values, asargued by Prah Ruger2 is key to bringing global health closer to communities, but thatvalues in themselves could present some confusion. Finally, I argue that the currentconfusion in itself presents hope.
