ON THE NUMBER OF SOLUTIONS OF A DIOPHANTINE EQUATION OVER A FINITE FIELD

We show that the number of distinct solutions of a Diophantine equation over a finite field is represented by the order and rank of a certain matrix derived from the coecients.
