It is the main purpose of this paper to give an elementary proof of Miki’s identity for Bernoulli numbers by making use of a certain linear recurrence relation obtained from either Faulhaber’s formula for the power sum of the first k positive integers or special expressions of the nth harmonic number Hn = 1 + 1 2 + · · · + 1 n .
