Responses to the Comments on “Serum Lipids Among Drug Na?ve or Drug-Free Patients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Their Association with Impulsivity: A Comparative Study”
Wethank theauthors ofthecomments 1 for theinterestshown in our study and theremarks. Aselaborated in thearticle, 2 our study had three specificaims, none ofwhichwas to “search fora biomarker ofimpulsivity” per se. Therefore, to consider that thestudy aimed to search for biomarkers ofimpulsivitywould attract inappropriateand far-fetched attempts to extrapolate or generalize our findings, to find biomarkers of impulsivity. Neither did ourarticle discussabout itanywherein the manuscript. Had “searching for biomarkers” been an aimof our study, it would have been designed differently. Studying impulsivity among groups of patients with other psychiatric diagnoses including impulsecontrol disorder, their first-degreerelatives,and healthy controls (HC) would have been needed. Theauthors rightly pointed out theabsence ofassessment ofmetabolic profilein thestudy sample. We have mentioned this in thelimitation of our study and recommended thesamefor improvement in futurestudies. Weagreethat incorporating other suggestions in futurestudies would enhance the generalizability ofthefindings.
