Sir,We read with interest Dr. Nilendu Sarma’s paper,1redemonstrating what we have already shown in our previouspublications,2?4 i.e., anatomical segmentation in nonsegmentalvitiligo. Though we are happy that our findings have beenindependently seconded by another author, we would liketo correct the following misinterpretations of our findingsreferenced in the manuscript. At the outset, Blaschko's lines and anatomical segmentationsin vitiligo are not contradictory as the former represent thefiner anatomical segmentations of the skin while the latterrepresents the segmental development of big and smallappendages of the body along with that of skin. We wouldlike to correct the basic premise of the manuscript thatmosaicism in nonsegmental vitiligo is a new finding and has“never been demonstrated” before, as Dr. Sarma states inthe introduction. We have already demonstrated mosaicismin our previous publications!2?4 Indeed, our concept thatmosaicism is involved in the pathogenesis of vitiligo hasbeen acknowledged, and our figures reproduced in Dr. AlainTaieb’s book “Vitiligo.”5.
