Combined use of rotational atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy balloon (Rotatripsy) for percutaneous coronary intervention of heavily calcified right coronary artery lesion
Calcified coronary lesions represent a challenging scenario forpercutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This is mostly due to theinability to deliver and implant stents appropriately, which is oftenassociated with high rates of procedural complications and suboptimallong-term clinical outcomes.1 Several traditional and noveltools like scoring and cutting balloons, high pressure OPN balloons, rotational and orbital atherectomy, excimer laser and intravascularlithotripsy balloons (IVL) are available to tackle such lesions in orderto achieve optimal procedural outcomes. Any of these can beindicated during a procedure depending upon the burden andlocation of calcium.
