The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficacy ofinsecticides and miticides for the management of yellow pecanaphid complex (YPA: yellow pecan aphids and blackmarginedaphids), black pecan aphids (BPA), and pecan leaf scorch mites(PLSM) in an irrigated mature pecan orchard. The study wasconducted in a 9-acre orchard with mature ‘Desirable’ pecan treeslocated in Tyty, GA. The experiment followed an RCB design with12 treatments randomly assigned in each of the four blocks. Theexperimental unit was a mature nut-bearing pecan tree. Buffertrees were established surrounding each tree used for the experiment(i.e., buffer trees were both within the same row and acrossfrom the trees used in the experiment). Pre-treatment samplingwas done on 13 Aug 2018, and spray applications were conductedon 14 Aug 2018 using a 100 gal/acre-calibrated Durand-Wayland3PT hitch airblast sprayer. Average temperature and accumulatedrainfall during the 2-wk period post-application were 26°Cand 2 cm, respectively. Post-spray evaluations were conductedon 21 and 28 Aug 2018. Five compound leaves were randomlysampled from the lower and middle canopies of each tree. Dueto differences in the numbers of leaflets per compound leaf, onlythe middle three pairs of leaflets per leaf were checked for thetarget pests. Data were analyzed using ANOVA (JMP Ver. 14.1.0)following square root transformations. Differences among meanson each sampling date were determined using LSD test (P ≤ 0.05).
