This trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of several rates andtimings of various insecticides against SWD in Tart Cherry. Singletreeplots were established in a 24-yr-old ‘Montmorency’ cherryplanting (15 × 20 ft spacing) at the Trevor Nichols Research Centerin Fennville, MI (Tart Cherry 4). Treatment plots were replicatedfour times and set up in an RCB design. Applications began 28 Juneat a week prior to anticipated initial infestation with ripe fruit andwere reapplied on 7 d intervals until 22 July (Table 1). Test materialswere applied with an FMC 1029 airblast sprayer calibrated to deliver100 GPA at 2.5 mph. Regular maintenance foliar applicationswere applied to all treatments and included Actara DF, Badge SC,Bravo Weatherstik L, Indar 2F, Luna Sensation 500 SC, Merivon4.17 SC, and Rally 40 W. In addition, glyphosate was banded belowthe trees for weed control.
