—Adding security mechanisms to computer andcommunication systems without degrading their performanceis a difficult task. This holds especially for wirelesssensor networks, which due to their design are especiallyvulnerable to intrusion or attack. It is therefore importantto find security mechanisms which deal with the limitedresources of such systems in terms of energy consumption,computational capabilities and memory requirements.
