In our previous report (Nihei et al. [2015] J Architect Plann (Transactions of AIJ), 80, 2429–2437), we created a list of building elements and net quantities of the dwelling unit design to investigate the condominium design that takes the thermal environment into consideration. In this report, we added “Cooling Load,” “Heat Loss Amount,” “Solar Heat Gain Amount in Cool Period,” and “Eaves Depth/Opening Height” to the study. First, we demonstrated the validity of the design criteria related to insulation. Next, we clarified the possibility of reducing the cooling load according to the dwelling unit design, excluding external conditions. It has been mentioned in a previous report that in the case of dwelling unit design for condominiums, the dwelling unit plan is stylized as an nLDK. Therefore, it may be possible to review the dwelling unit design itself by considering the thermal environment from the dwelling unit design side, in addition to insulation and glass specifications.
