Robustness as Enabler for Sustainable Production Networks

Sustainability is an important goal of today’s companies. The connectivity and decentral production are challenges while aiming at the reduction of CO2 pollution. For a higher utilization of transportation capacities, it is crucial to bundle freights cross-companywide. Therefore, the idle capacities of lots of transport companies must be notified centrally. Such highly interconnected networks are sensitive towards disturbances. Therefore, it is important to identify Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that enable a fast identification of delays. Furthermore, action alternatives for ensuring the robustness have to be considered. A first approach for a robust control of routings is presented within the paper.
