Dr. Peng performed a retrospective study to use microarray- based comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) in the aid of pre- natal diagnosis and a total of 836 samples were enrolled [15]. They found that incidence of de novo segmental amplification or deletion in prenatal sample was 1.2% and 40% of the de novo segmental amplification or deletion samples were associated with abnormal prenatal sonography findings [15]. Via this powerful tool, the couple can obtain a better genetic counseling and make a final decision after shared-decision making program. This study is important, since the age to attempt to conceive becomes older and older. More pregnant women are elderly mother, suggesting that more and more these elderly mother need genetic counseling.
