To the editor We have read with great interestthe?study by Gabryelska et al,1 suggesting thatserum hypoxia?inducible factor?1α (HIF?1α) pro?tein might serve as a?promising diagnostic markerin obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), after exclusionof some chronic hypoxia disorders. The?markershowed an?area under the?curve (AUC) of 0.841for a?cutoff value of 1055.6 pg/ml, with highsensitivity, specificity, and positive predictivevalue. In addition, no circadian fluctuation wasdemonstrated.
