Bacteria of the genus Photorhabdus (Enterobacteriaceae) are motile, gram negative, symbiotically associated with infective juveniles of entomopathogenic nematodes of the genus Heterorhabditis (Heterorhabditidae). Nematodes retain the Photorhabdus bacterial cells in their intestine and transport them into an insect host 6 .
