摘要

Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) of thegenusBacillus are useful as biological control agents bysynthesizing and releasing different metabolic antimicro-bial compounds such as surfactin, fengycin, hydrocyanicacid, pyrrolnitrin, dimethylhexadecylamine, phenazines andothers;however, the antifungal mechanism and the applica-tion of these compounds to protect wood-based materialsare still not known 4 . Wood is a lignocellulosic materialthat is an important source of carbon for insects, bacte-riaand fungi which have the potential to degrade it andgenerate significant economic losses 3 . In the agriculturalsystem, the control mechanisms offered by the PGPR havebeenan environmentally sustainable alternative to the useof eco-toxic compounds; nonetheless, this strategy has notbeenadopted in the wood preservation industry. That iswhybacterial metabolites can represent a biotechnologicaloption to control the deterioration caused by decay fungi.
