In memoriam Steven Yue Qian (1960–2019)

On Friday November 22nd 2019, more than 30 scientists from Beijing,Shanghai, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Iowa, New York and California,gathered to celebrate Dr. Steven (Yue) Qian's life and scientificachievements. This memorial service, held during the SfRBM 2019Annual Meeting, was organized by Steven's colleagues and friends fromthe International Chinese Association of Free Radical Biology andMedicine and supported by the Society for Redox Biology and Medicine(SfRBM). Steven passed away on October 20, 2019 at MD AndersonCancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Qian was a full professor at NorthDakota State University and remembered by many as a recognizedscholar and a talented researcher in pharmaceutical sciences. Above all,he was a truly beloved friend to so many. His leadership in free radicalbiology and medicine as well as his generosity and kindness will beremembered, particularly in the Chinese community of redox research.Steven has been one of the most recognized Redox Biologists in theChinese Redox Community. He championed the efforts to unite Chinesescientists in the redox fields, locally and all over the world.
