Leaf veins are used as the biological template, then dipping them in the ferric chloride solution to get the precursor. A fter carbonization and oxidation, the environm entally friendly biom im etic m orphology carbon/a-Fe2o3 composites are synthesized successfully. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM ), X -ray d iffraction (XR D), nitrogen adsorption-desorption test, U ltraviolet-V isible lig h t spectrum (U V -V is) and hydrogen production by water splitting are used to characterize the morphology and photocatalytic properties of materials. The results show that the morphology of template can be copied completely by biom im etic morphology carbon and ferric oxide. The specific surface area of materials is about 75.2 m2/g and the band gap of materials is reduced to 1.9 eV. A fter being illum inated for 360 m in, the hydrogen yield of composites is about 436 m ol/g.
