Critical appraisal checklists assist in systematicallyevaluating research evidence to judge the credibilityof results based on specific methodological principles.1Though they cannot clearly distinguish between poorreporting and poor study methodology, biases resultingfrom either can mislead healthcare decision makers.Incomplete reporting can compound problems arisingfrom poor methodology.2 It is the goal of those designingthese checklists to improve both study methodologyand reporting.
