Cornealtransplant is the mostcommonly and the mostsuccessfully performed human transplant.[1] During the COVID-19 pandemic, worldwidedecreasein donorcorneacollections have dramatically affected thefrequency ofcornealtransplants.[2] Dueto reduced supply and demand,cornealtransplant has been notified asan elective procedureand deferred inmultiplecountries tillrestoration of normalcy. However,areas wheresight-threateningmicrobial keratitis forms the primary indication foremergency cornealtransplantation, itmight bereasonableto find logicalsolutions of overcoming thecurrent donor scarcity.
