In a 112-page publication, the legacy of local memory is imparted through the figure and personality of a culturist from the village of Ahuyamala (Tachira State, Venezuela): this is about Mr. Jesus Maria Duque (Don Chucho), who was awarded in 1988 with a regional conservation prize. His life reflects, to different generations from the pre-school stage to the doctoral level, all his experience and his desire to transmit the ancestral knowledge, as well as its intangible heritage; its particular form of reconstruction, inventiveness and cultural and environmental practices. That is framed in the figure of an elder adult, humble, generous, hardworking, leader of their community; an informal teacher on the practices and knowledge of the field, practitioner of religious and moral values of the Tachira region; but also a great father and grandfather; and above all, a great promoter of the conservation and the sowing of local or autochthonous species. Thus, under his empowered role as guardian of the river basin of the Torbes river (upper basins), he has been one promoter of the conservationist legacy of the Liberator, and also as a volunteer sower of native tree species. His high level of commitment even let him to offer his own house as a permanent and open classroom for the integral formation.
