Intervenciones locales en el sector apícola de la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Public policies for the apicultural sector were based on the implementation of regulations to ensure the quality of honey, in accordance with the demands of international markets. In this context, producers have had to face several difficulties to achieve compliance with the new requirements, without them their productive subsistence was under menace. In this urgent context, municipal interventions raised at the resolution of territorial apicultural problems, such as the need to have honey extraction rooms enabled, as an indispensable condition for the sustainability of the local sector. The municipalities of the province of Buenos Aires represent some examples where they manifest themselves of those interventions. The knowledge of how the governments of the province have participated in the problem, not only allows the observation of the processes of public action and their underlying logics, but also the approach to the nature, functioning and socio-economic situation of the local institutions involved. The methodology of this study consists in an analysis of apicultural public policies at the municipal sector. The study was qualitative, with fieldwork practices, through interviews and semi-structured surveys. The requirements for honey extraction rooms, particularly with respect to the building conditions and processing, have been established as a condition for the apicultural production system. The municipal actions that tended to materialize the existence of an extractor establishment were energized from the establishment of assistance and promotion policies, from which the installation of community extraction rooms were stimulated, offering service to local apiculture producers, or establishments destined to extract honey from grouped beekeepers.
