ObjectiveThis article proposes the study of current models of urban-regional planning and urban design,for the evaluation of urban behaviour towards sustainability; both of the cities, and of theirterritories of influence in relation to social, physical and environmental dynamics.MethodologyBeing a synthesis work, the methodological approach of axes and indicators and the results ofthe assessment of the component built on 10 cities under study are presented.ConclusionsThus, under the multiplicity of prioritized factors and dimensions, measurements are studied incities of the first hierarchical order that make up a particular enlarged Caribbean region, with theaim of constructing a conscious radiography of the urban image; which serves to issuerecommendations for intervention, consolidate a baseline, and subsequently be able to evaluatethrough indicators the different projects that emerged in the formulation of the regional planninginstrument. All this, under the same criteria of sustainability, functionality and territorial identitypreviously defined.OriginalityThe study contributes to the parametrized search for the growth, development, ordering,inclusion and articulation of urban relations, as well as establishing potential contributions interms of the indicators evaluated for future urban projects.
