Cataloging three-dimensional objects: the funniest of the funny formats

The working title of this issue, “Non-Text Collections, or, Weird Things I have Catalogued,” caught my attention.It sums up my 28-year cataloging career. The title conjures up images of the very real mounted black bear inAlaska and the equally real pig lungs here in Fresno. It has been my experience that Technical ServicesDepartments in libraries across the land have many weird things that sit on the shelves, gathering dust,because nobody wants to tackle them.
