摘要

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has a multitude of uses within burns, plastic and reconstructive surgery from temporising wounds to dressing split-thickness skin grafts [1]. However, the literature in relation to NPWT for burn injuries is limited. The basis of NPWT is to provide a protected environment to promote healing by inducing micro and macro strain within the wound bed, reducing oedema and stimulating perfusion [2]. This is achieved by generating either a continuous or intermittent sub-atmospheric ranging from 50 to 150 mgHg [3]. These properties should encourage burn wounds to heal.
