ABSTRACT Hypertension is one of the major public health issues in World today. In Kerala, the prevalence of hypertension is increasing rapidly due to several factors including fast life style and longevity. The objective of this study was to find out the prevalence of hypertension in a fishermen colony of Jonakapuram, Kollam, Kerala. A community based cross sectional study was conducted in the field practice area of Urban Health Training Centre of a Medical College. 985 study subjects aged 19 y.
