ABSTRACT In an attempt to find a new class of antioxidants and corrosion inhibitors, a series of 5-anilino-4-(4hydroxyphenylazo)-3-methyl-2-substituted-thiophene derivatives were prepared via the reaction of 2-acetyl-2(4-hydroxyphenylhydrazono)-thioacetanilide (3) with appropriate -halogenated carbonyl reagents namely, chloroacetone, phenacyl bromide, ethyl bromoacetate and chloroacetonitrile.
