ABSTRACT Drug dissolution from solid dosage forms has been described by some kinetic models which include zeroorder kinetics, first order kinetics, Higuchi model and Hixson-Crowell. Drug release from matrices may involve processes of diffusion, erosion, and leaching or dissolution. Drug release may follow mixed mechanism of release; it may involve both diffusion and dissolution controlled processes.
