ABSTRACT This paper presents the development and application of an in-vitro drug release mathematical model useful in predicting the in vivo bioavailability of the drug, methotrexate. The model is based on a novel dosage form designed to deliver a drug into the gastrointestinal tract in a controlled manner. Chitosan beads containing methotrexate were prepared using ionotropic gelation technique by dropping methotrexate containing solution of positively charged, chitosan, into Tripolyphosphate s.
