ABSTRACT Heart is the organ which pumps blood to various organs of the body. Nutrition of various tissues depend on efficient functioning of the heart .This in turn depends on the proper functioning of the four cardiac valves that are mitral , tricuspid , aortic and pulmonary. The cardiac valves are frequently damaged by chronic rheumatic heart disease caused by streptococcal infection and congenital heart diseases.
