New outbreak of CCHF with high mortality at the end of the first decade after the beginning of CCHF in Iran

Background: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), is now endemic in the southeast of Iran, especially in Sistan and Baluchestan, a province with long borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan. In 1999, an outbreak of CCHF occured in this region and it is continuinguntil now. From 9 months ago, we faced with cases of CCHF with high mortality despite the promt treatment with ribavirin.We aimd to study the mortality rate in recent outbreak and compare it with mortality rate in patients with CCHF who admitted to our hospital during 5 years ago .
