During embedded software development ofcomplex control system, the calibration is an importantapproach to obtain optimal parameters of embeddedsoftware. Currently, typical calibration systems are withpoor adaptability for various controllers which havedifferent communication interfaces and calibrationprotocols. In order to solve the problem, an improvedarchitecture for embedded controller calibration system isproposed to support more communication buses andprotocols. In this architecture, by introducing OPC (OLEfor Process Control) technology, the host software ofcalibration system is separated into OPC server and client.The OPC server masks the difference of various calibrationprotocols and detail of communication devices, and providesa unified access interface for controller parameters. TheOPC client calibrates and acquires the parameters thoughcalling the interface provided by the OPC server. By themethod, when communication device or calibration protocolis varied, only the corresponding OPC server is required tobe replaced. Then the details of communication devices andcalibration protocols are no longer considered whiledeveloping a calibration system, and the generality andopenness of the calibration system are enhanced greatly.The calibration system corresponding to the architecturewas applied to an engine controller to verify theeffectiveness of the method presented.
