Active XML (AXML) is a new markup languageframework that provides the ability to exchange intensionaldata. The intensional data is defined in the AXMLdocuments as calls to local or remote Web services. AXMLaims to improve the task partition and distribution in P2Pnetworks. However, if one peer joins more than one P2Pnetwork and its services are invoked frequently by a largenumber of peers, this peer can become a bottleneck andrequires large computational resource. In this paper we show that a caching mechanism in P2Pnetworks based on the AXML technology can be apromising solution because AXML properties will simplifythe caching procedures in these networks. We propose threelayers of caches that will be located in: the bottleneckservice provider, nominated peer(s) in the P2P network andthe service requester.
