Average communal water consumption fell below 100 L/person/day in Hungary. There are 16 sewage treatment plants in Hungary implementing biogas generation with anaerobic treatment. Eleven of these use it to generate electricity. Generating capacity is approximately 9.2 MW. It was inescapable that thermal utilisation of sewage sludge receive a bigger role opposite recultivation in the future. The proportion of agricultural utilisation will not decrease. Price levels of sludge utilisation attain or exceed expenses in Germany without energetic utilisation of sludge.
