Theflowof oilandgasin theproductionpipelinesisacrucial stepfortheoil industry, whichalwaysseeks tomaximizetheproductionof thesevaluable hydrocarbons.The modelingoftheflow patternsallows abetteranalysis of the behaviorofthe mixture.In thiswork,themechanicalenergy balanceisappliedtorepresentthemultiphase oil-gasflowbeingevaluated;the contributionof the termsofkinetic energyandfrictionpressure dropalong thepipe.The simulation resultsofpressure dropprofilesshowed thatthekinetic effectsdue to theinertiaof the gasareequivalentto thosefromcompressible flowbygas expansion.Thefrictioncan also besignificantto the overall resultofthepressure dropthatwill depend on theflow patternandcontact conditionsof thegas phasewiththepipe wall.
