Multiple-point geostatistics has been widely used in petroleum exploration areas for its power of spatial correlation statistics compared with variogram-based methods. Since Snesim algorithm was proposed in 2002, and there are many improved and new algorithms appear later. Among them, Simpat algorithm leads to a series of based on pattern similarity, such as Filtersim and Dispat. Simpat can reproduce reservoir models well and meet the need of continuous variable modeling, but its practical application is limited to large time demanding. This paper proposed an improved Simpat algorithm based on multicore parallelization which could help to raise computational efficiency without cost additions in mainstream multicore computers.
