The aim of this paper is to reveal the potential of Open Source Cloud Software for GIS in LBS design and practice. Cloud solutions will enable the acceptance and usage of open standards for LBS applications. Geographical Information System (GIS) always play an integral role in LBS systems. But it comes with high entry cost, however the recent emergence of Cloud technology provides a possible solution to overcome the high GIS's cost issue. This article, based on relevant research results at home and abroad, analyzes the characteristics of spatial information service based on cloud computing, proposed a spatial information service system architecture, and its key technologies are analyzed, explored further research directions.
