Polymermembraneandcompositepolymerformembraneelectrodeassembly(MEAs)aresynthesizedandstudiedforusageindirectmethanolfuelcell(DMFC).Inthisstudy,weprepared3typeofMEAs,polystyrene(PS),sulfonatedpolystyrene(SPS)andcompositepolymerSPS-alginatmembraneviacatalysthotpressedmethod.TheperformanceandpropertiesofpreparedMEAswereevaluatedandanalyzedbyimpedancespectrometryandscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM).Theresultshowedthat,wateruptakeofMEAcompositepolymerSPS-alginatewasobtainedhigherthanthatinSPSandPS.TheprotonconductivityofMEA-SPS-alginatewasalsohigherthanthatPSandPSS.SEMcharacterizationrevealedthattheintimatecontactbetweenthecarboncatalystlayers(CL)andthemembranes,andtheuniformlyporousstructurecorrelatepositivelywiththeMEAspreparedbyhotpressedmethod,exhibitinghighperformancesforDMFC...
