Hybridmaterialssynthesizedbycombiningpolymersandinorganicnanoparticles(NPs)havereceivedconsiderableattentionrecentlyduetotheiradvantageouselectrical,optical,ormechanicalproperties.Herewepresentapolarimetricstudyofthinfilmspreparedfromphotoanisotropichybridmaterials:azopolymer(poly[1-[4-(3-carboxy-4-hydroxyphenylazo)benzenesulfonamido]-1,2-ethanediyl,sodiumsalt])dopedwithdifferentconcentrationsofZnONPswithsizesbelow50nm.Toobtainfullinformationaboutthepolarizationresponseofthesethinfilms,wedeterminedthekineticsoftheStokesparametersoflightpassingthroughthefilmsonilluminationbylinearlypolarizedlightwithintheabsorptionbandofthematerial,namely473nm.UsingtheStokesparameters,thebirefringencevalueswerecalculatedasafunctionoftimeandcomparedforthefilmswithdifferentNPconcentrations...
