TheaimofthisresearchwastocalculateSizeSpecificDoseEstimates(SSDE)generatedbythevarianOBICBCTv1.4X-raytubeworkingat100kVusingEGSnrcMonteCarlosimulations.TheEGSnrcMonteCarlocodeusedinthissimulationwasdividedintotwoparts.Phasespacefiledataresultedbythefirstpartsimulationbecameaninputtothesecondpart.Thisresearchwasperformedwithvaryingphantomdiametersof5to35cmandvaryingphantomlengthsof10to25cm.DosedistributiondatawereusedtocalculateSSDEvaluesusingtrapezoidalrule(trapz)functioninaMatlabprogram.SSDEobtainedfromthiscalculationwascomparedtothatinAAPMreportandexperimentaldata.ItwasobtainedthatthenormalizationofSSDEvalueforeachphantomdiameterwasbetween1.00and3.19.ThenormalizationofSSDEvalueforeachphantomlengthwasbetween0.96and1.07.Thestatisticalerrorinthissimulationwas4.98%forvaryingphantomdiametersand5.20%forvaryingphantomlengths.ThisstudydemonstratedtheaccuracyoftheMonteCarlotechniqueinsimulatingthedosecalculation.Inthefuture,theinfluenceofcylindricalphantommaterialtoSSDEwouldbestudied...
