A wide range of anomalies are associated with the femalegenital tract. These anomalies have a devastating impact onthe potential for sexual activity and fertility. Hymenalanomalies are one of them and include imperforate,microperforate (pin-hole), septate, cribriform, etc. Differentfrom imperforate hymen, microperforate hymen (MH)may be asymptomatic until puberty when the women’squality of life is jeopardized. Depending on the size of themicroperforation, MH’s clinical features may be verysimilar to those found in imperforate hymen cases. However,MH may present with infectious complications sincethe accumulated secretion retained in the vaginal canal hascontact with the external environment and therefore representsa source of entry for infectious agents. Pregnancywith microperforate hymen can occur, but it is rare.
