摘要

Hyalella maya n. sp. from a sinkhole (cenote) in Quintana Roo, Mexico, is described herein, based on morphologicalcharacters. It is the third species recorded in Mexico and the second species of Hyalella found in the Aktun-Ha sinkhole.It can be distinguished from its closest species, Hyalella azteca from Veracruz, by the shape of the palp of maxilla1, the number of setae in the posterior margin of the basis, the relative palm length and the truncate process of gnathopod2 in males, the number of setae in the lobe of the basis of pereopod 7, and the shape and setation of the telson.Those characters have been found to be useful for species distinction in the complex by González and Watling (2002).The main differences between Hyalella cenotensis and Hyalella maya n. sp. are: the presence of eyes, the number ofarticles in the flagellum in antennae 1 and 2, the relative length of antennae to the total body length, the relative lengthof the rami in uropod 3 to the peduncle length, and the number of setae in the telson.
