Background: The clinical environment in the academicemergency department (ED) is challenged by the struggle ofmaintaining efficient patient throughput while supporting a culture of teaching and learning. As a solution, severalinstitutions have developed faculty teaching shifts dedicatedto improving on-shift resident and student education. Trainingand comfort level among faculty, however, is remarkablyheterogeneous. The authors propose the development andadoption of a just-in-time (JIT) learning module to assistfaculty to prepare for teaching shifts.
