The research aims to outline the thinking of the jurist and diplomat Emer de Vattel on the theme of exile in his famous treatise Le Droit des Gens. In the cultural context leading to the birth of modern international law, Vattel proposes a legal interpretation of the concept of exile firmly linked to natural law. Thus, he identifies and analyses the concept of exile, seen in relation to other forms of abandonment of the country.
