Bromodimethylsulfonium bromide/tetrabutylammonium nitrite: an efficient catalyst mixture for the nitration of phenols

Nitrophenols were obtained via direct nitration of phenolswith tetrabutylammonium nitrite in the presence ofbromodimethylsulfonium bromide at room temperature in high yieldsunder aprotic conditions.
