摘要

A study of assimilable organic carbon (AOC) derived fromalgogenic organic matter in different drinking water resources wasconducted. Seasonal changes in the concentration of AOC at KamafusaDam were dependent on the algal cell numbers. Variations in AOCconcentrations were found to be more reliant on the AOC-P17 componentthan the AOC-NOX component. The algal culture experiment showed thatextracellular organic matter (EOM) released during the growth ofPhormidium tenue in M-11 culture medium led to a significant increasein AOC concentration; however, no significant variations of AOCconcentration were observed in CT culture medium containing highamounts of dissolved organic matter. The AOC included in EOM was noteasily removed by chlorination; however, the AOC included inintercellular organic matter (IOM), which was released from algalcells, was easily removed under conditions where residual chlorine wasdetected.
