Synthesis of the novel benzothiazole compounds from 7-benzylidenebicyclo [3.2.0] hept-2-en-6-ones and 2-aminobenzenethiol

Synthesis of the 2-(2-styrylcyclopent-3-enyl)benzo-[d]thiazoles(6a-i) is reported for the first time. Reaction of7-benzylidenebicyclo [3.2.0] hept-2-en-6-ones (3a-i) and2-aminobenzenethiol (4) in the presence of p-TsOH as acatalyst, in ethanol under reflux, resulted in the formation of novel2-(2-styrylcyclopent-3-enyl)benzo[d]thiazoles in high yields.
