Link-Level Performance of Indoor Body Area Networks with Centralized Topologies

sensors networks and, more specifically, body area networks (BANs) are key building blocks of the futuregeneration networks and the Internet of Things as well. In the last years, research has focused on channel modeling and onthe design of efficient medium access control (MAC) mechanisms. Less attention has been paid to network-levelperformance analysis. Thereby, this paper presents a novel analytical framework for network performance analysis withstar (i.e., centralized) topologies. This framework takes into account realistic channel statistics and provides severalinsights on BAN design and analysis.
