Press forming is a method to produce packaging products, such as trays or plates from sustainable materials made from renewable resources, for example paperboard. The press forming process typically utilizes pre-cut and -creased paperboard blanks, which are press-formed to three-dimensional shapes. This paper focuses on the effect of creasing tool (creasing wheel) dimensions on the quality of the sealing surface of the press-formed trays. The experimental results show that the width of the creasing wheel has an effect on the quality of the formed trays and is dependent on the thickness of the formed material. The results can act as a guideline when planning the production for creasing and press forming.
