he concept of interoperability is large, being used in various areas of knowledge and applications from operating systems in computer to cell phone companies, but information science can define two concepts used in a unambiguous interoperability for the spread and the search for information, syntactic interoperability and semantic interoperability, with consequences for both languages as the description of content in non-homogeneous, ie, described by different metadata and markup languages. The objective of this study is to conceptualize in heterogeneous environments description of the concepts of information syntactic and semantic interoperability.
