High SVR in difficult to treat HCV infected Thalassemia major patients with DAA

: Dapsone is one of the second line treatments of immunethrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) with a response rate of about 50%.Dapsone Induced Agranulocytosis( DIA) is rare and life threatening idio-syncratic reaction associated with Dapsone therapy. High risk of DIA, he-molytic anemia(HA) & methemoglobinemia has been reported in leprosyand dermatitis herpitiformis patiens related to drug dosage or increasedimmunological responsiveness but there are no case reports of HA and lifethreatening DIA during the treatment of ITP. We report a case of agranu-locytosis induced septic shock due to dapsone. Through this case , weattempt to create the clinical awareness of its risks and highlight the needfor CBC monitoring of patients treated with Dapsone in order to favor earlytreatment of adverse effects.
